Overview

A potent SARM investigated for reversible male contraception in rodents; there is no human clinical evidence.

How it works

S23 is a particularly potent SARM, notable for being studied as a potential male contraceptive rather than as a muscle-builder.

It binds the androgen receptor with high affinity. In male animals, that strong androgen signaling suppresses the hormones (gonadotropins) that drive sperm production, reducing fertility reversibly — which is what made it a contraceptive candidate.

There is no human clinical data on it, and the same potent hormonal suppression that makes it interesting also makes its effects on the body significant. It is not approved.

Mechanism · Detailed Analysis
Molecular targetA high-affinity nonsteroidal AR agonist.
Signaling & downstream effectsPotent AR activation; in male animals it suppresses gonadotropins and spermatogenesis (studied as a reversible male contraceptive).
CaveatsNo human data; strong hormonal suppression.
